Reyes, Alcano to grace Tuburan 10-ball tilt

World billiards champions Efren "Bata" Reyes and Ronnie "The Volcano" Alcano will grace the 1st Mayor Aljun M. Diamante 10-Ball Invitation­al Tournament on June 9-12 at the Cebu Technologi­cal University (CTU) quadrangle in the municipali­ty of Tuburan.

Reyes and Alcano will play an exhibition game, with the winner getting P20,000 and the loser receiving P10,000 courtesy of Mayor Diamante.

The winner then will be challenged by the extremely talented Cebuano shotmaker in Anton Raga. If he wins, Mayor Diamante will give him additional incentive of P10,000.

Meanwhile, the cashrich Tuburan tilt with a guaranteed prize money of P200,000 is limited to only 64 players on a first come, first served basis. They will play in a double knockout format without re-entry.

Interested parties may register anytime starting today. Entry fee is pegged at P1,000. Mayor Diamante designated Joie Glenn "Dongdong" Gonzales as tournament manager.

The four-day event features three categories, A (open to all players), B (all Tuburanons adult) and C (all Tuburanons aged 15 years old and below).

Aside from medals, the champion in category A will pocket P100,000, while the second and third placers will take home P50,000 and P15,000, respective­ly.

In category B exclusive for Tuburan residents only, the top three will receive P10,000, P5,000 and P3,000, while first three winners in category C will get P6,000, P4,000, and P2,000.
