The Cebu provincial government commended the officers of the Philippine National Police for their successful operation that netted two kilos of shabu worth P23.6 million in San Remigio town last Friday.

Governor Hilario Davide III said the success of the operation is proof that the province is serious in its campaign against illegal drugs.

“This only goes to show nga kining atong kampanya versus illegal drugs is serious. I commend the CPPO (Cebu Provincial Police Office) and its PIB (Provincial Intelligence Branch) for this latest apprehension,” he told reporters.

He added that the province usually gives incentives to police officers who scored success against illegal drugs as part of the program of the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Commission (CPADAC).

The Provincial Board, likewise, lauded the police through a resolution passed during its regular session on Monday.

“The successful operation demonstrates the determination of the CPPO in its drive against illegal drugs in the province… The same inspires other law enforcers to persevere in the campaigning against illegal drugs,” part of the resolution read.

The copy of the resolution, sponsored by PB member Carmen Remedios Durano-Meca, co-chairman of the CPADAC, was furnished to CPPO Director Noel Gillamac and PIB chief Rodolfo Albotra.

Gillamac had said the seizure of the two kilos of shabu was the largest in Central Visayas this year.

Authorities also arrested a certain Maribel Arcenal and her brother-in-law, Eduardo Arcenal, after a month-long surveillance operation conducted by the PIB.
