Winning boxing bets still unpaid

-

Manny Pacquiao lost to Mayweather by unanimous decision. But some taxi and PUJ drivers are not convinced. Many winning bettors have yet to be paid.

An unidentified texter said Manny's loss was due to the judges who were all Americans. "Kun dunay rematch," he said," anhi ipahigayon sa Cebu with all the judges from Gensan."

Mary Jane Veloso's mother credited her daughter's reprieve to the Filipino people who refuse to acknowledge the help of PNoy, the DFA, and DOJ. But PNoy is harboring no ill-feelings against the outspoken mother. According to presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte, the President shunned the death convict's mother's tirades. So Mary Jane's mother can still expect PNoy's help should another 11th hour "miracle" happen.

Mary Jane is not yet off the hook. And this is what PNoy is trying to do, get her off that hook and send her home, the Palace spokesperson was quoted in news reports as saying.

A Mandaluyong City ordinance bans two unrelated men from sharing the same motorcycle, although it allows women and children as backriders.

This ordinance has been proving to be a success, says news reports. It has reduced to almost zero the number of crimes involving motorcycle criminals riding in tandem that has been the headache of the police in

many cities.

Many other cities bothered by motorcycle riding criminals have tried copying the Mandaluyong ordinance with favorable results. I am not suggesting we also copy it here in Cebu. Our lawmakers here might have such better ideas in mind.

A reader in Guam has e-mailed me asking where she could secure some promotional materials about the 2016 International Eucharistic Congress. He/She said members of her Filipino Youth Club want to help disseminate information about the IEC to be held in Cebu next year. I suggested that she communicate with the Archdiocese of Cebu in Cebu City.
