Calayan brings stem cell treatment to Cebu

Stem cell therapy is now available in Cebu through the newly opened Calayan Medical Group in Oakridge Business Park, Mandaue City.

Stem cell therapy, also known as regenerative medicine, promotes the reparative response of diseased, dysfunctional or injured tissue using stem cells or their derivatives. It is the next chapter of organ transplantation and uses cells instead of donor organs, which are limited in supply.

The Calayan Medical Group is a sister company of the well-known Calayan Surgicenter in Makati headed by Dr. Manuel "Manny" Calayan, one of the most respected cosmetic surgeons in the country.

The first branch out of Luzon for the Group, the Calayan Medical clinic in Oakridge makes stem cell therapy highly accessible and affordable to Cebuanos and those from nearby cities who are in need of such treatment.

"We are the only legitimate stem cell clinic in Cebu. We can perform stem cell processes not just for aesthetics but also for medical purposes," says Lalen Calayan, Operations Manager and Business Development Head of the Calayan Medical Group.

"Using only stem cell from body fats, we can guarantee a safe, worry-free and reasonably-priced procedure for our clients," Calayan said.

Prior to the availability of stem cell treatment in Cebu, patients have to go to Manila and even abroad spending millions for such treatment.

"With the Calayan Group now in Cebu patients need not go very far for their stem cell treatment. They save big not only with the travel expenses but also with the cost of the treatment. Our rates are even lower compared to Manila," Calayan said.

At Calayan Medical Group, stem cell treatment starts at P350,000 for simple treatments like pain management, sports medical or rejuvenation; and P800,000 to one million for comprehensive treatment. These procedures are performed by Board-certified doctors.

Aside from stem cell treatment, the Calayan Medical Group also offers plastic and reconstructive surgery, skin grafting, Dermatology, cosmetic, gynecology, aesthetic and wellness. It will soon offer hair restoration.

The clinic occupies a 140 sq m space at the 2nd floor, Block 88 Building, Oakridge Business Park on A.S. Fortuna St., Mandaue City. It has a total of 25 medical and non-medical staff headed by Dr. Bernardita Calayan Brion, Medical Director.
