Over P300T ‘shabu’ seized from 3 men

-

Three men were arrested and over P300,000 worth of suspected shabu was confiscated in a buybust operation by the City Intelligence Branch operatives in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7 in Barangay Sambag 2, Cebu City yesterday dawn.

The subject of the operation, Mark Sala, 33, was arrested after handing over a small pack of suspected shabu to a poseurbuyer for P200.

Inspector Gomersendo Mandawe, deputy chief of the CIB, said Sala’s henchmen, Dennis Ian Baring, 29, and Charles Andrew Ligan, 26, both from the same barangay, were also caught by the operatives repacking the illegal drugs.

The operatives seized from Sala’s possession 25 small packs and five medium packs of suspected shabu. Three small plastic packs of suspected shabu were recovered from Baring and 19 small packs from Ligan.

Mandawe said all drugs confiscated weighed 25 grams with an estimated value of P309,400.

He said Sala is a level three drug pusher who can dispose of at least 50 grams a week. Sala was reportedly placed under surveillance for more than a week.

According to Mandawe, Sala said that he engaged in illegal drug trade for three years now and that he was following his wife’s activities. The wife, however, was not arrested since only Sala was the subject of the buy-bust.

“Naghisgot man to siya nga nagmahay siya ngano’ng nisunod pa gyud siya sa iya’ng asawa. Para man unta kuno sa income,” said Mandawe.

The CIB deputy chief added they have yet to check if Sala has derogatory records.

Sala, Baring and Ligan will be facing charges for possession of illegal drugs. An additional charge for selling illegal drugs will be filed against Sala.
