1 dead, 3 injured in squabble

A fight supposedly just between two men ended with one dead and three others injured past 8 p.m. on Tuesday in Purok Lumboy, Barangay Looc, San Remigio town.

Ruben Andales Giminez, 37, died of multiple stab wounds allegedly inflicted by his neighbor, Cancio Cabanes, 52.

During the incident, Marlita Cabanes, 48, Cancio’s wife, was hit by Giminez in the head and fell unconscious while Giminez’ sister, Everna 26, was also injured after being hit by a knife in her right arm.

According to PO1 Felipe Cabague, based on the investigation conducted by PO1 Jeffrey Liquin, investigator on case, Ruben was drinking since early morning on Tuesday.

While drinking, Ruben went to Cabanes’ house several times. Past 8 p.m., he returned to the house of the Cabaneses, allegedly bringing two pieces of wood with him.

Cancio was inside the comfort room and Ruben then allegedly attacked him, hitting him in the body.

Cancio’s wife, Marlita, saw the commotion and ran toward her husband and hugged him to save him from the severe beating. However, Marlita was hit in the head instead and fell on the floor unconscious.

After seeing his wife fall, Cancio ran toward the kitchen and managed to get a knife.

Cancio stabbed Ruben who also still hitting him with the wood. Ruben then managed to pick a steel bar and stab Cancio.

Ruben’s sister, Everna, saw that her brother and neighbor were stabbing each other so she ran toward her brother and hugged him but was also hit in the right arm.

A few minutes later Ruben fell on the ground and succumbed to multiple stab wounds.

The injured persons were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Cancio, after being treated, was brought to the San Remigio Police Station.
