Mabolo parish launches website, coffee table book
The St. Joseph the Patriarch Parish in Mabolo, Cebu City launched on Friday its official website at stjosephmabolo.com and a coffee table book to raise funds for the church renovation project.
The website at stjosephmabolo.com features a brief history of the church with photos and videos, mass services schedule, list of chapels, and church activities, among others.
The coffee table book has a running title ‘Panaw: A Pilgrim’s Journey’. It will be an added means to raise funds for the Mabolo Parish Church Renovation Project, which is also in line with preparations for the upcoming International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) in 2016 and the 500th Anniversary of the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines in 2021.
Aside from featuring the physical church, the temple of stones and place of worship, the book will likewise be the story of Mabolo parishioners who throughout the course of 223 years have exhibited passion and devotion to the Catholic faith.
Its general contents will include the history of the St. Joseph the Patriarch Parish Church in Mabolo, which carries with it a testament to centuries of faith and resilience despite 223 years of trials.
This resilience can be seen in the following general topics that will be included in the book - the St. Joseph the Patriarch Parish Church temple and the community chapels, the church organizations’ passionate service for others, old families of Mabolo and their contributions to the church, and photographs – both old and new that show artistically the devotion of the parish community.
Individuals, families, businesses, institutions and organizations can contribute their stories for the book and pledge their donations.
A Photo Contest open to the general public with registration fees will also add to the pool of photographs as resource materials.
The book will be very dependent on the parishioners’ generous donations, and the book will also be a constant work in progress – just like the story of Mabolo church, this book will likewise undergo several changes.
Panaw: A Pilgrim’s Journey will be a concerted effort and a work of the community led by a team of dedicated experts in their respective fields.
