TCC-CBM rules Mandaue swimfest
The Cebu Blue Marlinspowered Team Cebu City overcame a tough challenge put up by the spirited Talisay City tankers to snatch the overall championship of the 8th Mandaue City Mayor's Cup Swim Meet at Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu the other day.
TCC-CBM earned a total of 1,496 points for the title, just 40 points ahead of its closest pursuer Talisay City. Host SHS-AdC came out third with 760 points, while the fourth to eighth placers were the University of San Carlos, Surigao City Swim Team, Maria Montessori International School, SHS-Hijas de Jesus and Indiana Aerospace University Swim Team.
Most of TCC-CBM's gold medals came from the ever reliable Indaya siblings Jobert and Karen and newcomer Mike Gabrielle de la Serna.
The other gold medal contributors were Densil Shane Dinopol, Catherine Yu, Maria Michaela Recilla, Fritz Tamara, Razel Cabajar, and Justin Reign Garrido.
TCC-CBM also saw the likes of De la Serna and Recilla emerging as the best swimmers in the 8-under class, Jobert Indaya in the boys 11-12 age group and his sister Karen in the girls 13-14 division.
Raven Faith Alcoseba, the golden girl of Central Visayas in the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa, delivered the goods for Talisay City despite being fielded in a higher age bracket.
Alcoseba was also the most bemedalled athlete in the girls 15-above division, while her teammates Fresh Lorraine Seguerra and Marielle Estreba dominated the girls 9-10 and girls 11-12, respectively.
Among the events Alcoseba competed in though, the most anticipated was the 200-meter individual event where she owns the Palarong Pambansa record of 2:33.71. She clocked in only 2:37.59 this time, but it was still enough for a gold.
Not to be outdone, SHS-AdC also had two of its bets reigning supreme in their respective classes - Val Andre Chiu in the boys 13-14 and Johann Matthew Tubesa in the boys 15-above class.
