Luigi: LP to decide for me what post to run for in 2016
Cebu 6th district Representative Gabriel Luis “Luigi” Quisumbing is awaiting the decision of the Liberal Party as to what position he would run next year.
He made this statement in reaction to 6th district Provincial Board Member Thadeo Ouano’s suggestion that if were up to him, he would let Quisumbing finish his term, considering that he still has one last term.
“Time will come, the party will decide,” said Quisumbing, who is the district chairman of LP, to which Ouano is a member and Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes is the city chairman.
Ouano claimed his daughter, Mandaue City First Councilor Emmarie “Lollipop” Ouano-Dizon, is being considered by LP to run for mayor since Cortes is on his last term.
But Quisumbing is also rumored to run for mayor while Cortes will run for Congress next year. Ouano is also rumored to run for Congress.
Quisumbing has been meeting groups from the informal sectors of Mandaue but he did not talk about politics.
Some barangay officials asked him, though, to tell the people what position he would run next year but Quisumbing just smiled.
Last Saturday, Quisumbing had a luncheon meeting with barangay officials and leaders of fisherfolks, senior citizens, trisikad drivers and youth organizations in Barangay Umapad led by Barangay Captain Nelson Rubio and his six councilors.
Quisumbing told his constituents that financial assistance for hospitalization is available at the Department of Health and the Department of Social Welfare and Development and technical-vocational scholarships at the Technical Education Skills Development Authority.
“Duol mo sa akong opisina ug sa barangay hall aron mahatagan mo sa lista sa mga requirements,” he said.
