Raps filed vs four drug personalities

-

The Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group has filed charges before the Office of the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor against the four drug personalities arrested during a buy-bust operation last Tuesday in Barangay Bato, Badian town.

Senior Police Officer 1 Reynaldo Solante, the leader during the operation, said Jobert Calabroso is facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Four others – Rolando Basoy, 56; Renato Quinanola, 46; and Emer Alcala, 43 are also facing drug charges. They have chosen not to file a counter affidavit at the prosecutor’s level and, instead, to face trial directly in court.

No bail was recommended for Calabroso and Basoy.

Calabroso got injured after he tried to shoot it out with the police operatives using a caliber .38 revolver.

He is the cousin of Jonard “Putoy” Calabroso, who died during the operation when shot by the police when he attempted to pull his .45 pistol out. One of the policemen reportedly tried to wrestle with him but eventually shot him in the chest.

Solante said earlier the Calabroso cousins sold drugs and operate a drug den. Jobert was charged previously with murder but the case was dismissed. Jonard, on the other hand, has a pending drug case.

During the operation, the police seized two big packs of shabu from Jobert. One big pack of shabu was seized from Basoy who was caught in the act repacking the substance.

Solante said further that Quinanola and Alcala were believed to have bought drugs from the Calabroso cousins and were caught sniffing shabu during the police operation. Drug paraphernalia were also found in their possession.

The four suspects are detained at the Consolacion Police Station.
