City to release aid to barangay amounting to P400M
The Cebu City government is ready to release financial assistance amounting to P400 million.
The aid, which is the first tranche of this year’s distribution, ranges from P3 million to P10 million per barangay based on population and land area. This is part of the city’s social development fund, which is part of the P13.4-billion annual budget this year.
The financial assistance is intended to fund various projects and programs of the barangay. To avail of the aid, the barangay should ensure it has liquidated the assistance given last year for infrastructure projects. If the project is still ongoing, the barangay can submit the liquidation once the project is completed.
The barangays is also required to submit a Brangay Development Plan, barangay resolution, and letter request approved by the mayor for financial aid.
Mayor Michael Rama said the assistance should also be released regardless of their political affiliation to serve the constituency better.
“No barangay shall be treated inferior. It is my marching order that all barangay should be treated in the same manner. No anger, no vindictiveness and no rancor,” he said.
“Even if they are not supportive to our administration we will still give them because this is not for their households neither for them to buy cars but this is for the Cebuanos. It will be given fairly and squarely,” Rama said.
Rama said this serves as an early Christmas gift to all 80 barangays.
