At least P50,000 worth of suspected shabu was confiscated by police during an implementation of a search warrant in Sitio Mahayahay II, A. Lopez Street, Barangay Calamba, Cebu City yesterday morning.

The operatives of the Crime Investigation and Detective Group-7, together with the personnel of San Nicholas Police Station and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency7, implemented a search warrant against Sadam Laurenciana for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act at around 7 a.m yesterday.

Laurenciana was not around during the implementation of the search warrant, however, they were able to arrest Laurenciana’s suspected cohort, Arturo Rodrigo, 30, a native of Daanbantayan, Cebu, who tried to escape through the roof of the house.

Police Senior Inspector Delfin Bontuyan, Chief Investigator of CIDG-7, said they placed Laurenciana, who is reportedly a level two drug pusher, under surveillance for two weeks.

The warrant was issued by Judge Soliver Peras of the Regional Trial Court Branch 10 in Cebu City last Friday.

Bontuyan said Laurenciana must have noticed the police were after him so he left the area.

The operatives found one big pack and five small packs of suspected shabu with a street value of P50,000 and assorted drug paraphernalia inside Laurenciana’s house. They also seized from Rodrigo one small pack of suspected shabu.

In an interview with Rodrigo, he denied being a cohort of Laurenciana and said that he was just a carpenter who used to work for the latter.

Rodrigo said he was in Laurenciana’s house that time since he was about to give back a duplicate key of the house because his work was already done.

When the police came, Rodrigo explained that he climbed up the roof because he got scared when he heard loud thudding sounds from the outside.

“Gi-martilyo man gud to nila ang gawas. Nahadlok ra man ko ato,” said Rodrigo.

When asked about packet of suspected shabu seized from his possession, Rodrigo said he does not know about it.

Further, Rodrigo said he never saw Laurenciana selling drugs but he heard rumors about the illegal trade.

Meanwhile, a suspected drug pusher was arrested by the police in a buy-bust operation conducted just next to a church at Beatriz Durano St., Poblacion, Danao City past 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Richard Alang, of Barangay Tayud, Liloan town, was arrested after he sold a medium pack of shabu to a police poseur buyer

PO1 Rey Gonzales, desk officer, said that past 1 p.m., Supt. Elmer Lim, Danao City Police Station chief and the operatives of the Danao City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG) went near the Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Church to possibly arrest the suspect.

This is after Lim had made initial contact with Alang and asked him if they could buy shabu.

Using boodle money with a P500 bill placed on top, they transacted with Alang next to the church and after they have successfully finished the transaction the police officers swooped on the suspect.

Alang was caught off guard and was not able to resist arrest anymore.

The police recovered the boodle money and the medium-sized pack of suspected shabu. He was immediately brought to the police station and was detained pending the filing of charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
