Leylam FC, KN Ferraren dominate in Aboitiz football

Leylam FC and KN Ferraren found the perfect recipe to win a title as they dominated their respective divisions in the 17th Aboitiz Football Cup yesterday.

Leylam escaped with a thrilling 4-3 victory over San Miguel FC via penalty shootout to bag the inter-company crown at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu football field in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

The game was close as it reached a 3all deadlock in the regular period, but Leylam’s Carlo Taculme utilized his experience­d in playing in the Football Fives World Championsh­ip to propel his team to victory.

Aside from the title, Leylam also had four of the five special awards with them with Raffy Llorente as the best defender, Abelardo Solinas as best midfielder, Rene Sanchez as best striker and Michael Pacite as the MVP while San Miguel ended with Mark Tungol named as the best goal keeper.

Over at the San Roque Parish Football field, coach Eleazar "Elying" Toledo led the charge for KN Ferraren's first title in the men's 38-above class at the expense of Don Bosco United FC, 2-1.

Toledo logged the first goal for KN Ferraren in first 15 minutes of the game and got equalized by DBUFC on the 30th minute.

Mark Cueva, however, managed to sneak in and logged another goal for KN Ferraren. Toledo continued to stir his team on the final half and never allowed their opponent to score again, paving for their victory and his MVP award.—
