Teen gunned down; 2 dead in accidents

A teenager was gunned down allegedly by five men yesterday dawn at R. Padilla Street corner C. Padilla Street, Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City.

Ray Carmilo Abas, 18, was found sprawling dead on the road with gunshot wounds on the different parts of his body.

As per police investigat­ion, Abas was walking towards home at 4 a.m. when the men onboard three motorcycle­s and armed with guns arrived and shot him repeatedly.

According to Police Officer 1 Reoful Adalim of Homicide Section, the victim’s mother, Carmilita Abas, said she had no idea that her son was not at home when the shooting happened.

She said someone may have been holding a grudge against her son. She said her son is being accused as one of those who allegedly hit the son of a barangay official in their area.

The body of the victim, which bore gunshot wounds to the hands, chest, stomach and back, was brought to St. Francis Funeral Homes for an autopsy examinatio­n.

Authoritie­s have recovered five empty shells of a cal. 45 pistol and five deformed slugs at the crime scene.

Investigat­ion is ongoing to locate the fleeing assailants and determine the motive of the crime.

ROAD ACCIDENTS

Meanwhile, two men died in separate road accidents in Cebu involving motorcycle­s last Tuesday.

In Barangay Ibo, Toledo City Tuesday morning, one Joseph Kin Plenos, 27, died while his backrider Arnold Canoy, 19, was injured after the motorcycle they were riding collided head on with another motorcycle driven by Harold Bobilles, 43.

Bobilles and his 15year-old backrider were travelling the opposite direction when they reportedly overtook a delivery van and went beyond the center line, hitting Plenos’ motorcycle.

Both motorcycle­s crashed and the four injured victims were rushed to Toledo City Hospital.

Plenos, who suffered severe head injury, was transferre­d to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, while Bobilles was rushed to South General Hospital in Naga City for further treatment. Plenos was later declared dead.

In Barangay Tuyan, Naga City, 55-year-old Allaño Panilag died after he was ran over by a truck when he was thrown off from the motorcycle he was driving.

Panilag, a resident of Barangay Cuanos, Minglanill­a, was bound for Cebu City when he was allegedly hit by an unknown vehicle, causing him to land on the road.

He was then accidental­ly run over by a Mitsubishi Fuso flat truck that was traversing the same direction.The victim’s head was severely fractured which caused his instantane­ous death.

Truck driver Oliver Fuentes, 41, of San Remigio town, is temporaril­y detained at Naga City Police Station while waiting for the proper dispositio­n of the case.
