Two construction workers escaped death after their neighbor allegedly shot them several times because of a fake P100 bill in Barangay Sinsin, Cebu City Saturday night.

Baltazar Villacencio, 56, was reportedly the target of a certain “Dino” but Nestor Tabay, 46, was also hit.

Senior Police Officer 2 Rommel Bancog of the Homicide Section in the Cebu City Police Office, said that at around 8 p.m., Tabay and Villacencio were on their way home from work on board one motorcycle. Villacencio’s son, who is also a construction worker, was also with the two.

When they reached Sitio Latawan in Barangay Sinsin, the headlights of their motorcycle went on and off prompting the three to pull over and check the headlights.

Bancog said a man onboard a motorcycle suddenly stopped and shot Villacencio several times then immediately fled off.

Villacencio, who sustained four gunshot wounds on the different parts of his body, was immediately brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center together with Tabay, who also sustained a gunshot wound on his ankle.

Bancog said Villacencio’s son was not hit and was the one who reported that it was their neighbor, Dino, who shot his father.

Villacencio’s son revealed to the police that Dino was angry at his father because last week, Villacencio asked the suspect to change a P100 bill to coins. But the suspect allegedly got angry after finding out that the bill was fake. Villacencio’s son denied that his father had a fake bill.

Bancog said they already coordinated with the Cebu City and Cebu Province Public Safety Company to check if the suspect is still in Toledo City, where the victims and the suspect reside.

Bancog said Villacencio and Tabay are now in a stable condition.

Meanwhile, a 49-year-old man died after he was shot several times by an unidentified man past 1 a.m. yesterday at Sitio Cadastral, Barangay Looc, Danao City.

Rex Arnold Gian died after he suffered gunshot wounds in the head, neck, belly and left armpit.

Initial investigation conducted by the Danao police revealed that Gian was standing in front of his neighbor’s house when an unidentified man arrived and shot him several times.

When the victim fell to the ground, the suspect immediately fled away on foot.

The police recovered seven empty shells of a caliber 9mm pistol from the crime scene.

In barangay Tisa, Cebu City, a 26-year old man landed in the hospital after he was stabbed by his neighbor past 11 p.m. on Saturday at Sitio Kaduloy, Barangay Tisa, Cebu City.

Jeric Pacaña was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center after he was allegedly stabbed by Moises Arcenal Jr., the victim’s neighbor.

Initial investigation conducted by the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police office revealed that the victim was standing in a small alley at Sitio Kaduloy when the suspect approached him and stabbed him several times.

The victim was brought to CCMC while Arcenal is still subject of a hot pursuit operation.
