Cebuano boxer Junny Salogaol of Big Yellow Stable successfully defended his PBF bantamweight title with a third round knockout of Nicong Calamba from Agusan del Norte in the main event of the"Binukbokay sa Minglanilla:War of the Fists" fightcard on Saturday night at the Minglanilla Sports Complex.

After a heated exchange in the first two rounds, Salogaol suddenly sneaked in a solid jab to the chin that knocked the lights off Calamba at the 1:04 mark of the third round.

In the supporting main event, Jerry Castroverde of Omega Stable eked out a controversial split decision against Ryan Quimbo of Compostela over eight rounds. The verdict drew adverse reaction from the crowd, who felt that Quimbo deserved the victory.

Quimbo rattled Castroverde with a flurry of punches in the sixth and seventh round, but Castroverde weathered the onslaught and stood still until the final bell.

In the shortest bout of the evening, RR Borbon won by technical knockout over Jomar Ceniza of Bohol at the end of the first round.

In the other results, Clyde Azarcon of Big Yellow Stable defeated Macmac Baribar by majority decision, while Jay-Ar Aliasot won by technical decision over Ritchneil Rosales.

The slambang show was made possible through the support of Minglanilla Mayor Lani Pena in partnership with Cebuano sports promoter Lorenzo 'Chao' Sy and the Barangay Councilor League of the Philippines-Minglanilla Chapter.
