Boomerangs and Dragons cruise to 5-0 starts in E-League caging

The Telstra-Teletech Boomerangs and Supportsav­e Dragons sustained their winning ways to go 5-0 under the Evo League of the 11th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Former University of San Carlos Warrior Sam Jordan Hermosa scattered 23 points on top of 11 rebounds, six blocks and four steals to power Telstra to an 82-62 rout of the Calltek Trojans, while ex-Southweste­rn University Cobra Niño Belande fired 29 points and pulled off 14 rebounds to lift Supportsav­e to a 95-72 demolition of the 24/7 Cagers.

Nicklaus Sison, Ivan Figuera, and Jaygard Vios each nailed a dozen markers for Telstra, which was in full control after a 2517 start. The further ripped the game apart using a 21-9 spurt in the third quarter.

Belande, for his part, drew huge support from Mark Vergara with 17 points, seven assists and five steals. Adrian Neilburn Dy chipped in 16 points and 10 points for Supportsav­e, which turned to a solid 52-25 blast in the middle quarters to crush 24/7.

In the other games, the Teleperfor­mance All-Stars trounced the SSI Warriors, 89-62, while the Kyocera Frontiers drubbed the Contact Solutions, 68-51.

Dean Junber Escalon finished with 13 points, while Gamaliel Bas and James Lester Navaja connived for 21 points and 20 rebounds as Teleperfor­mance notched its fourth win in five starts. Ryan Veloso banged in 10 points and seven rebounds for Teleperfor­mance, which unleashed a decisive 2913 rally in the windup to vanquish the Warriors.

On the other hand, Junrey Cabbarubia­s paced Kyocera with 19 points, nine rebounds, eight steals and four assists followed by Ariel Ramonito Edera with 16 points and eight caroms.—
