Carcar City Vice Mayor Mario Patricio Barcenas is the richest vice mayor in the Province of Cebu.

This according to his Statements of Assets and Liabilitie­s and Networth (SALN) submitted before the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas. He declared a net worth of P20.3 million or actual wealth as of December 31, 2014. Net worth is total assets less total liabilitie­s. Barcenas’ real properties include a residentia­l house and a lot in Poblacion 1; a commercial lot in Poblacion 1; a lot in Perrelos, a commercial lot in Poblacion 1; a lot in Tugas, Cambuntan; and a residentia­l house and lot in Perrelos, all in Carcar City. He also disclosed a commercial lot in Abugon in the neighborin­g town of Sibonga,.

Listed as his personal properties are a cargo truck, Tamarraw, Revo Sports Runner, Toyota Fortuner, pieces of jewelry, seven units of airconditi­oning, furniture, and cash in the bank.

He also operates a business, the Matmat Carcar Chicharon.

Barcenas listed four relatives who are in government, namely Harlon Nacua, lawyer Democrito Barcenas, Maria Fe Barcenas, and lawyer Hervey Alejandro de Dios.

Barcenas is followed by Danao City Vice Mayor Ramon Durano VI with a net worth of P19.1 million.

Durano has real properties worth P7.2 million and personal properties worth P14.1 million.

Durano’s liabilitie­s totals P2.2 million covering his proprietor­ship and as incorporat­or of 2M Shell Service Station in Danao City and Colegio de San Antonio in Danao City since 2004.

He listed 12 relatives in government namely Danao City Mayor Ramon Durano III, congressma­n Joseph Ace Durano, Barangay Captain Thomas Mark Durano, Board Member Jude Thaddeus Sybico, Board Member Peter John Calderon, Samboan Mayor Raymond Calderon, Samboan Vice Mayor Lissa Marie Durano, Danao Councilor Carmen Remedios Meca, Carrascal Mayor Vicente Pimentel, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, and Board Member Miguel Magpale.

Toledo City Vice Mayor Antonio Yapha Jr. ranks third with a net worth of P16.7 million.

He has total assets of P22 million and liabilitie­s worth P5.3 million.

Yapha is engaged in businesses, Jegans Liner and Yapha’s Clinic. He listed two relatives in government service.

In fourth place is Mandaue Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede with P12.7 million net worth. He listed P12.7 million total assets and liabilitie­s worth P15,000.

He has no business interest and financial connection­s and has 22 relatives working in government.

Bercede is followed by Cebu City Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella with a net worth of P12 million.

Labella has P12.5 million worth of real properties and P1.6 million worth of personal properties. He has liabilitie­s worth P2.1 million.

Labella has agribusine­ss, catering services, and a law office. He listed five relatives in the government service.

In sixth place is Talisay Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante with a net worth of P4.1 million. He has total assets of P4.3 million and liabilitie­s worth P200,000.

Lastly, Bogo City Vice Mayor Santiago Sevilla has a net worth of P660,780. He has one relative in government. The Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas has yet to release the SALN of the vice mayors of LapuLapu City and Naga.

All government officials and employees are required to submit their SALN yearly. Failure to do so is punishable under Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-graft and Corrupt Practices Act and Republic Act 6713 or Code of Conduct for Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees. —
