PRO-7 wants thorough probe into CEBECO heist

The Police Regional Office-7 has ordered a thorough investigat­ion into the robbery of the satellite office of Cebu Electric Cooperativ­e II in Tabogon, Cebu last Saturday.

Senior Superinten­dent Rey Lyndon Lawas, chief of the Regional Directoria­l Staff, also wants financial institutio­ns and other vital establishm­ents to be alerted following the incident.

“This will form part of our lessons learned not only of the police but as well as with other financial institutio­ns,” said Lawas.

Lawas said that the PRO-7 will immediatel­y coordinate with the various financial institutio­ns as soon as the complete report about the incident is in.

“These concerned financial institutio­ns have their own responsibi­lity also to secure themselves,” he said.

“So we would like to know how it happened so that we can make some correction­s and adjustment in coordinati­on with the financial institutio­ns as far as their security is concerned,” Lawas added.

Five unidentifi­ed robbers pretended to be clients walked into the CEBECO II satellite office in Poblacion, Tabogon last Saturday. Once inside, the robbers pointed guns at the tellers and disarmed the lone security guard before fleeing with P554,000 cash.

Meanwhile, three persons were arrested Sunday for illegal possession of firearms. The arrests happened in the towns of Medellin, Dalaguete, and Compostela.

Jessie Rosales, 38, of Maharuhay, Medellin, was caught in possession of a caliber .45 pistol. A concerned citizen reported to the police about the presence of an armed man.

In Dalaguete, Glen Matugas, 24, was arrested in Barangay Poblacion after he was accused of indiscrimi­nately firing his gun. The police confiscate­d a caliber .45 pistol in his possession.

Alberto Bureros, 37, was also arrested in Canamucan, Compostela past midnight on Sunday for carrying an unlicensed gun.

The three arrested persons will be charged with violation of the Comprehens­ive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.—
