Barangay Uling gets an ambulance
Responding to emergencies such as vehicular accidents on the Naga-Uling road in Naga City is a challenge. Barangay Uling Captain Justino L. Dakay said this is because they are not well-equipped to do so.
To address this concern, Carmen Copper Corp. donated a brand new ambulance complete with accessories to Barangay Uling.
The ambulance costing close to P1 million is equipped with an oxygen tank, medical kit, secheron kit, blood pressure kit, oxygen regulator, manual resuscitator and stretcher.
The donation was under the company’s Community Development Program (CDP) that aims to promote social, economic and capability development in areas where there is an existing Mineral Production Sharing Agreement (MPSA) under exploration stage. It addresses one of the priority issues confronting the community, which the Barangay Development Council identified during the Participatory Situation Analysis and Social Investigation conducted by Carmen Copper in Barangay Uling.
“Since 2007, p roblema gyud ang emergency response kay prone to accident ang Uling. Salamat sa Ginoo, nahatagan gyud mi sa Carmen Copper og ambulance. Rest assured nga kining inyong gihatag among ampingan gyud aron mapahimuslan og dugay,” Dakay said during the turnover ceremony held at the barangay’s covered court recently.
The barangay has passed a resolution thanking Carmen Copper for its generosity. The resolution also mentioned that the barangay will shoulder the maintenance cost of the vehicle and will ensure it is utilized for its intended purpose.
In the same resolution, the barangay requested the City of Naga to train barangay employees in proper handling of patient as well as in disaster and emergency response so that the use of the new ambulance can be maximized.
Carmen Copper Community Relations Superintendent Neil L. Papas commended the barangay for taking the responsibility of maintaining the ambulance, which is consistent with the company’s sustainable approach in executing its CDP and Social Development and Management Program (SDMP).
City of Naga Mayor Valdemar M. Chiong, in his message, said that the city government will shoulder the fuel expenses of the ambulance as its counterpart in improving the health service and emergency response initiatives in Barangay Uling. He told the residents to remain united and to continue showing their cooperation in endeavors that aim to bring progress to the barangay.
