Humility and repentance, two things Catholics can learn during Holy Week
Humility and recognizing one's sins and repenting for them are lessons Catholics can learn from the sacrifices they make during Holy Week, this according to Archie Casinilio, 35, and Alma Pateres, 51.
Casinilio was one of those who played the 12 apostles during the Mass of the Lord's Supper at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral last Thursday afternoon. The apostles' feet were washed by no less than Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma to commemorate the washing of the feet, which Jesus did for his disciples as a sign of service and charity.
Casinilio said it was his second time to experience the same, the first was in 2014. Casinilio is one of the city's traffic enforcers.
"Akong pagsabot nga kitang tanan kinahanglan magpinasayloay ug magtinabangay.
Pateres, for her part, said she participated in the Visita Iglesia to renew her faith.
Despite already in a wheel chair, she visited seven churches starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday together with her nephew, niece, and siblings.
She said joining in the Visita Iglesia is her annual practice, which

serves as her spiritual devotion and an act of sacrifice.
Mao hinuon na akong panglantaw," she said.
Pateres said the Holy Week give people the opportunity to recognize their sins and repent for them.
