PB resolution reminds public anew to conserve water

-

The Cebu Provincial Board is urging all component cities and municipalities in the province to conserve water and conduct awareness campaigns on the effects of the dry hot season and the looming El Niño phenomenon.

In a resolution authored by Board Member Antonio Miguel Magpale, the body stresses on the effects of the El Niño to the whole country, especially to the agricultural sector and the supply of water.

The PB finds it necessary for the public to observe the proper ways in conserving water all over the province.

The resolution states that it is important to develop measures and strategies for efficient distribution management and conservation of water.

Based on the advisory released by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, the El Niño phenomenon may last until June this year.

Due to its effect, the water supply level in different water reservoirs in Cebu has dropped to a critical level. The resolution stated that consequently, barangays in the province has insufficient water supply.

Recently, the Metro Cebu Water District ( MCWD) had released an advisory saying the source of water in Cebu has started to drop to a dangerous level.

The PB is reminding the public to conserve water by checking pipes, faucets, showerheads, hoses, toilets and water tanks for leaks.

Another tip from the PB told the public to organize the laundry schedule and wait until it is fully loaded before washing the clothes.

When it rains, the PB advises the people to collect rainwater and use it for essential needs.—
