cuts were the bespoke stars of the season opening of

“Mugnâ” – a forthcoming series

of fashion presentations that’ll be bowing in Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa in the months

to come.

On March 12, at the resort’s Lobby Lounge, the series’ season opening had models dressed by OJ Hofer, Yvonne Quisumbing, Albert Arriba, Mia Arcenas, Edwin Ao, Jun Escario, Arcy Gayatin, Philipp Tampus and Philip Rodriguez walk down the marquee fashion presentation’s runway – with pieces indicative of the creators’ respective signature styles.

Pieces for cocktails and evening galas dominated the fashion presentation’s ritornelle – giving a glimpse of what’s to be expected from the “Mugnâ” series when it goes full swing. Slated to take place on the second Saturday of each month until August, collections by two of the series’ participating designers will be showcased in every “Mugnâ” fashion show – with its premiere season finale set to take place on August 31, this year.

Primed as a celebration of the best of Cebu, the “Mugnâ” series’ opening doubled as the launch of the Lobby Lounge’s new “Chocolate High Tea” offering. Done in partnership with the homegrown chocolatier brand The Chocolate Chamber, the offering matches premium tea with choice treats like tablea crème brulee, flourless tablea cake, beef tablea and more.

High couture and culinary craftsmanship may sound like an unlikely match, but for Cebu’s premier seaside resort, the pairing results in a tasteful celebration of fashion and style, which draws inspiration from the word “mugnâ” which, in Cebuano, translates to “to create.”
