Waterfront Casino now a non-smoking establishment

-

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation’s (PAGCOR) Casino Filipino located at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino (WCCH) takes pride in being one of the Queen City’s non-smoking establisgments.

This move was pursued officially on June 11 in support of City Ordinance 2241 or the “Comprehensive Anti-Smoking Ordinance.”

The Waterfront Casino Filipino, known as one of Cebu City’s premier entertainment and gaming hubs, pushed this movement not only to be at par with the international environmental standard of having designated smoking areas, but because the management truly believes in the benefits it can do not only to the guests and the establishment, but to the community and the environment as well.

“This change has definitely posed positive effects on some of our customers. We believe that if we start doing this, the environment, as well as our customers’ health will surely benefit from it,” Senior Customer Relations Assistant Jojo Sullano expressed.

Sullano also shared that while they have a handful of customers who responded well to this new ruling, there are also guests who did not welcome the establishment’s move.

“Imposing the non-smoking rule also has its disadvantages. We sometimes lose customers but we know that if we start caring for health and the environment now, they will thank us in the future,” he added.

Although this new rule states that the entire establishment is non-smoking, there are designated smoking areas outside the building for guests who wish to smoke. This makes the entire Waterfront Cebu City property as a non-smoking establishment as the hotel implemented the law last December 2015.
