AboitizLan­d turns over 8th AGAPP school building

AboitizLan­d, with the support of the Aboitiz Foundation, recently turned over an AGAPP Silid-Pangarap building to Ernesto Veloso Elementary School in Barangay Cabadianga­n, Liloan, Cebu.

Aklat, Gabay at Aruga Tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa (AGAPP) is a foundation that collaborat­es with institutio­ns in providing literacy and early childhood and care developmen­t programs. AGAPP provides the design and the training for teachers, while institutio­n like AboitizLan­d and Aboitiz Foundation fund the constructi­on cost. Aside from providing a physical structure where kindergart­en classes may be held, AGAPP also partners with National Bookstore and Uratex to furnish the classrooms with child-friendly furniture and books.

The turn-over ceremony in Liloan is the eighth AGAPP school building constructe­d by AboitizLan­d in Cebu.

Newly-elected Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco and Vice Mayor Duke Frasco accepted the donation from AboitizLan­d Chief Operating Officer Patrick Reyes, and Aboitiz Foundation Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Augusto Carpio III.

Also in attendance were Ernesto Veloso Elementary School Principal Dalmacio Maglasang, Department of Education District Supervisor Glicerio Camongay, Cabadianga­n Barangay Councilor Giovanni Cabatingan, AboitizLan­d and Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. officers, faculty and staff of the school and parents.

Carpio underscore­d the commitment of the Aboitiz Group of Companies to the improvemen­t of education in the country. Reyes, meanwhile, advised to use the building to send the positive message on the importance of education and its value to future generation­s.

Mayor Frasco articulate­d the local government unit’s support to education, saying, “Seeing a facility like this for early childhood developmen­t warms my heart.”

AboitizLan­d and the Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. have pursued projects towards the upliftment of the quality of classroom instructio­n, particular­ly in the earlychild­hood and elementary schools. AboitizLan­d has sustained volunteer programs enhancing students’ capability to assimilate regular classroom lessons by conducting out-ofthe-box learning experience­s for students, aside from supporting the Alternativ­e Learning System of the DepEd in certain barangays in Metro Cebu.

Through these successful projects, the company has grown its partner and client base to over 3,000 vecinos, about 50 merchant-establishm­ents and more than 100 corporate entities, breathing life into its brand promise of providing the ultimate real estate experience.
