Info officers group elects new officers
The Cebu network of local information officers is now led by a Tuburanon.
Sofronio “Titing” Pintado, a radio broadcaster was elected as the new president of Cebu Association of City and Public Information Officers (CAOCAMPIO) in the recently held Communications Enhancement Workshop.
Pintado is the information officer of Tuburan town, whose Mayor Aljun Diamante was also re elected as the president of League of Municipalities of the Philippines Cebu (LMP).
The former president of CAOCAMPIO, Florito “Carlo” Dugaduga, was also a radio broadcaster.
In his acceptance speech, Pintado said it is his direction to have the organization institutionalized considering that the position is either “taken for granted” or ignored.
He said the sentiments of the IOs remain the same since time immemorial. They have no security of tenure as their service is co-terminus with the mayor.
IOs are also given other tasks and some government officials do not see the importance of the position.
“We will continue to lobby for our position to be made permanent as we are essential partners in governance,” Pintado said.
The positions of Tourism Officers and Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) were already mandatory positions because of several lobbyings done.
The other elected officers include Michelle Mondigo (Danao City) and Jessica Banzon-Natad (Naga City) as Vice Presidents for North and South; Lavina Campos (Balamban), Secretary; Guenny Flores (Cordova), Treasurer; and Oscar Camino (Aloguinsan), Auditor.
Board of Directors who are also district representatives include Candice Acuna, Carcar City; Rydal Cisneros, Dalaguete; Jesus Cavalida, Alegria; Nino Ybanez, San Remigio; Edgardo Maningo, San Francisco; and Jeany Eve Inot, Mandaue City.
