11 fall in separate drug raids

At least 11 people were arrested in separate police operations that confiscate­d over P300,000 worth of illegal drugs.

Operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency-7 arrested Junefer Soquite, 31; Ryan Delar, 28; Rotsen Cabanaga, 22; and Rogelio Rustata, 20, during a buy-bust operation Monday afternoon in Barangay Kinasang-an, Pardo, Cebu City.

The suspects were placed under surveillan­ce for a week after narcotics agents received informatio­n about their illegal activities. During the operation, a PDEA-7 agent acted as poseurbuye­r of dangerous drugs.

Soquite and Delar transacted with the undercover agent while Cabanaga and Rustata served as lookout. Seized from the four suspects were a total of five packs of shabu weighing approximat­ely 100 grams and estimated to be worth around P320,000.

The suspects are now held under custody of PDEA-7 pending the filing of criminal charges.

Soquite and Delar will face charges for selling and possession of illegal drugs while Cabanaga and Rustata will only face possession of illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, operatives of various police stations in Cebu City also arrested six suspected drug personalit­ies, including a woman and a previous drug surrendere­r.

Jomar Tabasa, 30, resident of Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Calamba, was arrested Monday morning during a buy-bust operation conducted by the members of Sawang Calero Police Station led by Chief Inspector Keith Allan Andaya.

Tabasa allegedly sold a pack of shabu to Police Officer 2 Emmanuel Abergas during the covert operation. Following his arrest, several other packs of shabu were recovered in his possession.

On the same day, operatives of Mabolo Police Station led by Chief Inspector Jacinto Mandal Jr. also nabbed Bryan Taghap, 21, in Barangay Apas.

Taghap also sold a pack of shabu during a buy-bust operation to a police decoy. Taghap’s mother, Marcela, 51, was also arrested during the operation after the police found in her possession several parapherna­lia.

The same team also arrested Richard Gelig, 33, and Resty Lucabon, 36, in another buy-bust operation.

Also on Monday, operatives of Station 2 arrested Erne Romo, 28, a resident of Barangay Sambag 2, during a buybust operation. Romo is a previous drug surrendere­r.

He was arrested after he sold three packs of shabu to undercover policeman for P600. The police also confiscate­d nine more packs of shabu from his possession. Romo is ranked 32nd on the drug watchlist of Police Station 2.

In Carcar City, a known drug personalit­y was also arrested in Barangay Valladolid yesterday morning during a raid conducted by the members of the city’s police force. ` Socrates Rentuma, 52, was caught in possession of several packs of shabu. The suspect who is known by the name of Ates in the area tried to escape but was cornered by the raiding team.

The police were armed with a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 18 Judge Gilbert Moises for violation of the Republic Act 9165 or Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act.
