which has remained deafeningly quiet? Where is the commendation for the police officers who immediately responded to calls concerning the crime? What has to be noted is that while the two suspects shot it out with responding police officers, they remain alive. Compare that with the thousands who supposedly "fought back," forcing the police to defend themselves and kill them. In this case, the responding police could only wound them. Is it because they identified themselves as police officers before those responding could close in for the kill?

What was the motive behind the murder of Luz, a known anticrime crusader? Was her name on a drug list? At a time when extrajudicial killings have practically been accepted in society, her death would most likely be just another statistic. But the fact that active police officers were responsible definitely suggests Luz had the goods on them. It suggests that both Magdaleno and Almeranez were involved in crime, most probably illegal drugs, and they needed to silence Luz. So much for that medal bestowed on Almeranez by Gen. Dela Rosa. Just goes to show that they do not mean anything. It also casts a dark shadow on the PNP's war on illegal drugs, and even on Gen. Dela Rosa's limelight.

‘The two suspects then unmasked themselves to reveal that they

were in fact, police officersSenior Insp. Magdaleno Pimentel Jr. and Insp. Markson Almeranez. The latter was wearing a mask and a wig, and it turns out that he was even given a medal by no less than PNP Chief Gen. "Bato"

Dela Rosa for being an "outstanding police officer." Both suspects are in police custody, alive and being treated

for their wounds.’

?? ?? We have all seen how PNP Gen. "Bato" Dela Rosa loves the limelight. He gives fiery speeches against crime, particularly on illegal drugs. We have heard him threaten drug lords, saying that if he knew there were no CCTV cameras around, he would shoot...
