Phelps Dodge turns over initial support to Habitat for Humanity
When individuals or companies partner to share a common vision of building communities, they bring to the fore, a synergy that strengthens their individual commitment to transform lives.
Such was the case when Phelps Dodge Philippines partnered with Habitat for Humanity Philippines.
For 27 years, Habitat for Humanity Philippines has served over 140,000 Filipino families. Its mission is to bring people together to build affordable shelters and communities. In the process, it brings hope to the disadvantaged, helping address the issues of poverty alleviation for Filipino families. Worldwide, Habitat for Humanity is present in over 70 countries, and has helped at least 6.9 million people secure safe, decent and affordable shelters.
Phelps Dodge Philippines, a wholly owned subsidiary of A. Soriano Corporation, is the country’s leading manufacturer of quality wire and cable products for over 60 years now. It is a corporation dedicated to providing customer solutions to meet the electrical requirements of its market. It is very serious in espousing the values of quality and safe wiring for Filipino families, from all walks of life. In the past, PDP has supported the rebuilding of homes in Quezon province which was then struck by typhoon Reming. It was among the first to respond to the Yolanda ravaged communities in Daan Bantayan, Cebu. It also donated wires for Leyte-Samar families to rebuild homes destroyed by typhoon Yolanda.
Phelps Dodge Philippines is serious in its advocacy for quality and safe wiring, bringing this campaign to the provinces.
Thus, when it met Habitat for Humanity, the beginning of another phase in the implementation of its advocacy for quality and safe wiring for all homes, no matter how small, started to bear fruit, with its support for 350 homes in the Calauan, Laguna project of Habitat for Humanity Philippines. Phelps Dodge believes that by providing quality electric wires for the Calauan project, it is helping ensure that the houses built are safe and secure, so that the families living in those affordable shelters are adequately protected.
Even as Phelps Dodge Philippines draws out future plans to support succeeding initiatives in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, a journey earnestly driven by its commitments to build hope and progress in our country, begins.
