Where are our shepherds?

- Jean Michaut

Over the years and in conformity with the Code of Canon Law 212 paragraph 3, and the Article 907 of the Catechism of Catholic Church, the Ecclesiastical Authorities have been kept duly informed about irregularities related to the maintenance of the House of the Lord.

In spite of regular follow-ups, all the recipients of those reports have adopted a deafening silence instead of assisting, guiding, and dialoguing in order to solve the important matter of the existing problem.

The disrespect of the Temple of the Lord is totally ignored and, from such attitude, the lay people are suffering by being abandoned by their shepherds. What is written in the Bible and all official declarations by the authorities of the Church are disregarded making the Christian community to conclude: Whatever we want a dialogue, we do not have a listener. When we expressed our views, they are ignored. When we call, there is no echo. When we knock at the door, no one answers. When we need guidance, no one shows us the road. When we need help, we are neglected. Where are our priests, our shepherds that we trust? We are waiting for then but no one appears! We are forsaken. We are neglected. The faithful people show love, respect, commitment, and devotion to their pastors, so why are they overlooked, and neglected by them? Do the faithful people deserve such attitude?

Why don't we have more Saint John Vianney, universally known as "The Curé of Ars"? Saint John Vianney, patron of all priests and pastors, was a true shepherd and spiritual counselor fully devoting his live to his flock.

How can we forget what happened to Francis of Assisi? Praying to the crucifix in the chapel of St. Damien in 1215, he heard a voice telling him: "Go Francis and repair my house, which as you can see is falling into ruins."

May our shepherds hear the same voice and as well as the voices of the lay faithful?
