Search on for 2017 top gov’t workers

-

The 2017 Search for OutstandingGovernment Workers is on.

The annual search is conducted by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) under the Honor Awards Program (HAP) that recognizes government officials and employees who have displayed outstanding work performance. The conferment of honor awards aims to motivate or inspire government employees to improve the quality of their performance and instill deeper involvement in public service.

The search is made up of three categories. The Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award is conferred to an individual or group of individuals for exceptional or extraordinary contributions resulting from an idea or performance that had nationwide impact on public interest, security and patrimony. The contribution may be a suggestion, innovation, invention, or superior accomplishment.

The Outstanding Public Officials and Employees (Dangal ng Bayan) Award is conferred to an individual for performance of an extraordinary act or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior on the basis of his/her observance of the eight norms of behavior provided under Republic Act No. 6713, otherwise known as the “Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.”

The CSC Pagasa Award is conferred to an individual or group of individuals for outstanding contribution/s resulting from an idea or performance that directly benefit more than one department of the government.

The search culminates with the recognition and conferment of awards to deserving public servants during the celebration of the anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service in September.

Deadline for nominations to this year’s search is on March 31.

I met the “the One.” It was whirlwind romance with an intoxicating power. It took over my life. It brought me to where I should be. To where I am today.

It wasn’t a summer affair. It was an event that directed my whole being, gave direction and purpose to my life, added beauty and color, set my sail and kept me going.

As of today, we are counting more than nine years together with our own little big family. I have four boys who may or may not feel the same way I felt before. Who may or may not in 10 years, decide to leave the comfort of my home to be on his own and explore life the way I did. The little versions of me.

Fear for their well being will always be there. All I can do now is hope that they will survive life’s challenges, enjoy it’s blessings and learn from each lesson.

It was when I became a mother myself that I realized why my parents have to do what they did. It is now that I learned to appreciate their sacrifices. How they managed to put up a strong facade to make us feel secure. How they were able to raise us, instill value and make us who we are today.

Now I understand why mom dresses us in the same style. It was to give us the feeling of belonging, to shout to the world that we are a family. That the reason why dads are teaching us skills is to pass on valuable knowledge that equip them in conquering life. And that the reason why they care this much is because of pure love.

Today, the world changed. I am now the mom who gives the homily, who is married to the dad who pass over his frustrations. A parent who is loved, hated, appreciated and judged. And I am now “the hen who parades her chicks.”
