Not guilty.

This was the plea of the 40-yearold Jonathan Marfe alias Jojo who was accused of raping a four-monthold baby in Carcar City two months ago.

Marfe, a native of Katigbian, Bohol, denied the allegations filed against him during his arraignment before the sala of Regional Trial Court Judge Ester Veloso of Branch 6.

The Carcar City Prosecutor's Office had earlier indicted Marfe of kidnapping and serious illegal detention and statutory rape after finding probable cause.

Prosecutor Anabelle Robles said based on evidence, there were sufficient grounds to hold Marfe for the offense charged against him.

“After perusing all the evidence presented by the complainant, the undersigned finds sufficient basis to establish probable cause that the crimes were committed and that the respondent is probably guilty thereof,” the inquest resolution read.

To recall, on February 9, Marfe was allegedly seen heading to the house of the baby in Barangay Perelos, Carcar City at midnight after drinking with two other people.

Later, neighbors found a baby crying under a coconut tree at 1 a.m. They then brought the baby to the hospital after they saw that her private parts were bleeding.

Marfe was arrested on February

10.
