Liza Soberano wants to try action, horror genres

Liza Soberano’s love team partner Enrique Gil had starred in last year’s action-drama film “Dukot” – one of those rare times that one half of a hugely popular screen tandem takes on a project without the other.

If Liza were to also headline a movie sans Enrique, the 19-year-old actress says she’d like to veer away from the genres she’s been known for.

“I wanna try doing a movie similar to ‘The Walking Dead,’ an action-horror, or something similar to ‘Lara Croft.’ If I were to do a solo movie, I’d like to try another genre so that people can see another side of me, since I’ve been doing mostly rom-coms and drama,” the Fil-Am star had told the Cebu press.

“The Walking Dead” is a hit American horrordrama TV series about a world overrun by zombies, while “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” is an action-adventure film based on a video game and starring Angelina Jolie (a new film is in production with Lara Croft played this time by Swedish Oscar winner Alicia Vikander). Well, Liza would probably be the prettiest zombie around and we imagine she’d look fetching in Lara Croft’s curve-hugging ensembles and signature long braid.

Liza, who along with Enrique is taking an online Business Management course at Southville International School, also thinks that some viewers might get LizQuen fatigue, thus the need to go their separate ways every now and then.

“As actors, we shouldn’t just limit ourselves to just the two of us because we’re going to be boxed in and we won’t be able to discover what else we’re capable of doing,” says Liza, whose most recent flick with Enrique was “My Ex and Whys.”

“Habang tumatagal yung love team namin, baka naman magsawa yung tao, so sometimes, we have to do projects on our own para ma-miss naman kami ng tao pagbalik namin.” –
