A suspected drug personality was shot to death by an unidentified assailant in Sitio San Antonio, Barangay Linao, Talisay yesterday afternoon.

Police Officer 3 JunylAter of the Talisay Police Station identified the victim as Jason Napalla, 29, a resident of Sitio Rattan, Barangay Tangke.

Napalla reportedly has a pending warrant of arrest for violation of Section 5 of RA 9165 or selling of illegal drugs that was issued by RTC Branch 65 Judge Glenda Go.

Initial investigations revealed that prior to the incident, the victim, together with his sister, went to visit their brother at the city jail. Their brother is also facing an illegal drugs case.

Ater added that the suspect, who was on board a motorcycle, tailed the victim on their way home.

When the suspect got the chance, he shot Napalla in the head.

Police believed that the motive of the killing may have to do with the victim's involvement in the illegal drug trade.

The victim was declared dead upon arrival after he was rushed to the Talisay District Hospital.

The police are still conducting further investigation to identify the suspect and for his possible arrest.

DRIVER SHOT DEAD

Meanwhile, a 34-year-old habal-habal driver was shot to death by one of the two unidentified assailants in Sitio Magtalisay, Barangay Balud, San Fernando, Cebu Friday morning.

Julius Pandan Lapasaran, a resident of Sitio Tulay, Barangay Poblacion III, Carcar City, suffered gunshot wounds to his chest that resulted in his death.

Senior Police Officer 4 Ramuel Banogon of San Fernando Police Station said Lapasaran was standing beside his motorcycle around 11:15 a.m. while waiting for passengers when the two suspects, reportedly on board a yellow motorcycle, arrived.

Banogon said the back rider disembarked and went towards the victim and, without hesitation, shot the latter thrice.

Both assailants immediately left the area.

Witnesses immediately reported the incident to the police, while Lapasaran was rushed to Carcar Provincial Hospital. Doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Banogon said they have yet to identify the assailants, since both were wearing fullfaced helmets.

Witnesses were not also able to get the plate number of the assailants' motorcycle.

Banogon added that police are currently clueless as to assailants' motive in shooting Lapasaran. They are currently doing a follow-up investigation on this case.
