14 arrested for drugs in Metro Cebu

A total of 14 persons will be facing drug charges after being caught in separate anticrimin­ality operations conducted in the cities of Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue and Naga in Cebu.

In Lapu-Lapu City, police arrested eight men in two separate anti-illegal drug operations on Friday evening and early morning Saturday at Barangay Pusok.

After verifying received reports from a concerned citizen, a buy-bust operation was conducted by police around 6:55 p.m. on Friday at Sitio Opa Matumbo, Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City, led by Police Chief Inspector Jaime S. Tolentino in coordinati­on with the Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency Region (PDEA) -7.

Arrested were Ernick "Nikki" Patigas Tejones, 28, from Barangay Poblacion; Warren "Dong Way" Sabueno Arellano, 30, from Pusok; and Reno "Tangkal" Dungog Andales, 34, from Marigondon.

Police confiscate­d 12 small, 1 medium and 1 large plastic sachets containing substance believed to be shabu with an overall estimated worth of P106, 200.

Early morning the following day, five men were also arrested in another operation in Sitio Sta. Maria.

Arrested were Christophe­r Manisit Batonghino­g, 30; Marwin Pabor Cabalida, 39; Raymart Macapaz Munalem, 27; Melvin Igot Apor,39, all residents of the area; and Emeliano Pelio Getaruelas, 42, a resident of Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City.

Obtained from the scene were 27 small plastic sachets containing substance believed to be shabu with total Dangerous Drugs Board Value of P13,216 and P800 believed to be proceeds from the drug trade.

The suspects are now detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office holding cell awaiting appropriat­e criminal charges to be filed against them.

MANDAUE CITY

In Mandaue City, three arrests were made during two separate anti-illegal drug operations conducted last Friday.

Two were arrested in Marfa, Barangay Bakud; namely, Marco Nedamo Coyoca, 32, originally from Bantayan Island; and Gretchen Cabansag Pagatpat, 27, a native of San Remigio, Cebu.

Confiscate­d from the suspects were one medium and one small plastic sachets containing substance believed to be shabu, and proceeds amounting to P1,000.

Another operation was conducted later in the evening leading to the arrest of Victor Ligan Perez Jr., 52, at his residence at Victor Perez Compound, A.S. Fortuna Street, Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.

Seized from Perez was a small plastic sachet containing alleged shabu.

NAGA CITY

In Naga City, three men were arrested while at least P165,000 worth of shabu as well as a motorcycle were confiscate­d during a checkpoint operation conducted by Naga police along the National Road, Sitio Inumuan, Barangay Lutac yesterday.

The three men on board the motorcycle were arrested after being cornered and caught transporti­ng the illegal substances.

Arrested were Judie Boy Itang Montegrand­e, 30, and Rico Poloyapoy Camumay, 39, both from Toledo City, and Eric Panuela Cabra, 43, a resident of Cebu City.

Recovered from their possession were three pieces medium size transparen­t plastic sachets containing white crystallin­e substances believed to be shabu, 15 pieces of rolled aluminum tin foils, one disposable lighter and a black motorcycle driven by Montegrand­e.

Suspects are now detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Naga City (BJMP) pending filing of appropriat­e charges. No bail was recommende­d.
