Two killed in road accidents

A 52-year-old man was killed after a tricycle hit the rear of the trisikad he was driving along the national highway in Barangay Polambato, Bogo City, past 7 p.m. last Friday.

Rogelio Monsanto, of Sitio Buac, Barangay Cayang, Bogo City, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the city's district hospital but died a few minutes after arrival.

The driver of the tricycle, Wilfredo Ancero Bojos, 60, of Sitio Buac, Barangay Cayang of the same city, is now temporaril­y detained at the Bogo Police Station, pending the filing of charges against him.

Bogo Police Station desk officer Police Officer 2 Marvin Cortes said that the two were both driving in the same direction from Bogo proper when the accident happened.

Cortes added Bojos said he was not able to see the road properly because of the darkness.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed while his companion was injured after their motorcycle was hit by a truck in Barangay Tomonoy, Moalboal town, last Thursday around 8 p.m.

The fatality was identified as David Gesapini, 16, of Barangay Caleryohan, Dalaguete town, a student of the Caleryohan National High School, while his companion was identified as Cristian Cejudo, 18, of Barangay Dugyan, Dalaguete.

At the time of the accident both were on a motorcycle driven by Cejudo on their way to their summer job as service crew at Sula's Eatery in Moalboal.

The victims were nearing the Moalboal Town Center when Geronimo Samontañez, 33, who was traveling from Badian to Moalboal, lost control of his Isuzu Canter truck due to the road made slippery by recent rain.

The truck hit the motorcycle and the victims were thrown to the pavement and sustained various injuries. They were immediatel­y brought to the Badian District Hospital, but Gesapini was declared dead on arrival.

Police Officer 2 Gerome Abrasaldo said Cejudo was already discharged from the hospital.

"Ang pamilya sa namatay nagsabot na sa nakabangga ug tag-iya sa Canter Truck, willing motabang ang tag-iya sa pamilya" Abrasaldo added.

Both vehicles were brought to the Moalboal Police Station for documentat­ion and proper dispositio­n.
