We Love U Foundation cleans Mandaue

-

The International WeLoveU Foundation held their annual Clean World movement in Mandaue City to celebrate May 22 as Clean Day with the theme, “2017 Clean World Movement to Cope with Climate Change.”

Over 80 volunteers representing the local branch in Cebu cleaned the outskirts of Ouano Avenue, North Reclamation, Subangdaku from the back of SM Hypermarket to the bridge near SM City Cebu. A total of 40 sacks and bags of trash were gathered within two hours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The International WeLoveU Foundation was founded in 2001 by Chairwoman Zhang Gil-jah in South Korea. This is an organization that focuses on serving others who are in need and giving happiness to those who are in despair. With over a thousand chapters worldwide, the foundation actively participates in volunteer services such as blood drives, relief operations during disasters, clean up drives and many others to deliver love to the community and make this world a better place.

“I know that joining our cleanup movement would add awareness to our fellow residents in Mandaue. Hopefully, this could encourage the people to assist the barangay officials in their pursuit to make Subangdaku a better and cleaner place,”Atty. Charity Fernandez, an active volunteer of IWLUF since 2011.

“For more than 10 years that I have been a member of the foundation, I have participated in all our clean-up drives and I have seen the trash that litter our streets. Glass bottles, which decompose after a million years; plastic bottles, 450 years to decompose; rubber, takes over 50 years to decompose naturally, and many more are still being thrown on the streets. People need to know how seriously they could cause detrimental effects to nature and to human society as well,” said Engr. Cowart Suazo, a resident of Deca Homes, Barangay Tipolo.
