Pinoy Aquaman crosses CebuBohol sea

-

LOON, BOHOL — Lawyer Ingemar Macarine, dubbed as “Pinoy Aquaman” posted another feat by crossing last Sunday the 18.15-kilometer sea distance between Argao town of Cebu and Cabilao island in Loon, Bohol in 8 hours and 25 seconds.

The solo swim, which Macarine accomplished in 8 hours and 25 seconds, was his second crossing of the Bohol-Cebu sea but this time he faced the trouble of stronger current and an a school of jellyfish along the way.

Ably assisted by Ambet Dumayag of Argao Bantay Dagat Commission and mediaman Roel Catoto, Macarine said the sea crossing was intended to promote clean seas and Argao tourism.

He said it was also his way of preparation to try to cross the turbulent English Channel— between England and France—sometime in August this year. He tried it last year but aborted it when the weather did not permit him.

On May he successfully crossed the 23-4-km distance of the Camiguin-Misamis Oriental sea in northern Mindanao, clocking 7 hours and 47 minutes.

Instead of crossing the 12-km distance from Guinsiliban town in Camiguin province, strong current then carried him to the coastal barangay of Calamcam in Talisayan town instead of Balingoan town in Misamis Oriental, his supposed landing point.

He added, “I am saddened by the ongoing war in Marawi City. This swim is my humble contribution to promote peace between our brother Muslims and Christians in Mindanao. Swim is also to promote tourism in Camiguin and for cleaner seas.” He expressed gratitude to Argao mayor and those who helped him the preparation.

Macarine is a native of Placer, Surigao del Norte and currently the Commission on Elections Officer of Tubigon, Bohol.
