Two minors allegedly used by an adult as drug peddlers were arrested during buy-bust operation conducted by the operatives of Cebu City Police Office Station 2 in Barangay Sambag II last Monday.

The minors, both aged 16 years old, were considered street-value targets. Chief Inspector Maria Theresa Macatangay, Station 2 chief, said an undercover policeman transacted with the minors resulting in their arrest. Two packs of shabu worth P130,000 were recovered from their possession.

A follow-up operation also resulted in the arrest of Christopher Sumalinog Samosa, 26, resident of Barangay Bangkal, Cordova, Cebu. Macatangay said the minors told them that their contact was in a pension along Manalili Street, Cebu City.

During the debriefing the two minors said their supply came from Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City.

“It’s just very sad to know because these are minors, babae pa, and they are engaged in this kind of business. This incident will just confirm and affirm that selling of illegal drugs has no boundaries,” Macatangay said.

Macatangay urged the parents to be extra vigilant of their children’s activities and whereabouts.

“Kailangan nato bantayan atong palibot as much as ang parents kailangan pud bantayan ang ilahang mga anak nga dili mangasaag sa ingon ani,” Macatangay said.

The police are already preparing criminal complaints against the minors and their alleged cohort.

In Danao City, a newly identified drug pusher was also arrested Monday during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion.

The suspect was identified by the police as Mario Verances, resident of the place.

Police Chief Inspector Gerard Ace Pelare, Danao City Police chief, said Verances was a new drug player in the city. He said most of the bigtime players are already in prison.

The police seized 11 small packs and another four medium packs of shabu in his possession. He was under surveillance for two weeks before the operation was conducted.

Aside from Verances, five other newly identified drug personalities were arrested in separate operations yesterday dawn.

The suspects were identified as Rocky John Casas; Gemma Mae Tariao; Bernabe Alvaro; Jaime Tariao; and Eric John Manlosa Rabillas. A total of 27 small packs of shabu were seized from them.

In Bohol, operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 7 arrested three people, including two listed drug personalities in Tagbilaran City.

PDEA-7 spokesperson Leia Albiar identified the suspects as Paul Ian ‘Intsik’ Baliog, 26, his cohort Renz Botero, 29, and Ma. Adela Badayos, 31.

Seized from Baliog and Botero were at least 20 grams of shabu worth P100,000 and several drug paraphernalia. An estimated P40,000 worth of illegal drugs was also seized from Badayos.

Several cash remittance receipts worth P300,000 and bank deposit slips worth P260,000 were also recovered from Badayos.
