CAFGU member falls for selling illegal drugs
An active member of Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) was arrested Monday for selling illegal drugs during a buybust operation in Barangay Tabunok, Tabuelan,Cebu.
The suspect was identified as Marlon Rebato, 33, resident of the place and was assigned at the 12th Infantry Batallion of the Philippine Army.
Police Inspector Emmanuel Rabaya, Tabuelan Police Station chief, said the suspect had been monitored for his involvement in the illegal drug trade.
“Pag-off niya sa CAFGU kay sideline niya ang pamaligya og illegal drugs,” Rabaya said.
Rebato’s arrest stemmed from the information given by a drug suspect arrested three months ago. Rabaya said Rebato had been identified as the drug source by the people they previously arrested.
The police operatives seized from Rebato eight packs of shabu worth P5, 000. He is considered high value target because he is a member of the auxiliary force of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
During interrogation, Rebato revealed that he got his supply of illegal drugs from Barangay Calamba in Cebu City.
His customers include habal-habal drivers and out-of-school youth in Tabuelan.
Aside from Rebato, the police are also monitoring another drug suspect in the area.
“Naa pa ta’y lain nga gibantayan didto, under verification pa but naa gyud ni siya (Rebato) pirmi kauban,” said Rabaya.
Rebato is now detained at the Tabuelan Police Station while criminal complaints for violation of the Republic Act 9165 are being prepared for filing.
