Capitol releases P740T incentives for CPPO

The Cebu provincial government released a total of P740,000 allowance for the personnel of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) yesterday.

The allowance served as "a reward for their selfless dedication." Each policeman and nonuniform personnel will get a total of P4,000 for the months of July and August 2017.

Governor HilarioDavide III approved and released the allowances to the policemen assigned in the Cebu provincial police headquarters.

“The allowance aims to aid the policeman in their daily sustenance and augment their financial capability,” stated in a statement released by the Capitol.

Police Superintendent Virgilio Bayon-on said that the allowance is a great help to the cops and the station staff.

“Kung ma-permanente na, dako nga tabang sa pang-adlaw-adlaw. Unlike sa Cebu City nga dagko na daan silag allowance,” he said.

The cash was an incentive bonus and not a regular allowance. It was in October and September last year when the CPPO personnel last received an incentive from the provincial government.

Bayon-on added that he and his colleagues are excited in anticipation of the fulfillment of President Rodrigo Duterte’s promise to increase the salary for the cops.

“Gi-promise man na sa Presidente nga increasan ang sweldo next year. Hinaot madayon. Magpaabot lang ta,” he expressed.

He also said that many cops have pile loads of debts. He believes it is one of the reasons why some resort to illegal activities in order to sustain their living expenses.

“Di nato kalikayan nga naa tay mga kaigsuonan nga wa nay panggastos nga mobuhat og illegal kay gamay og sweldo. Apan, magdepende ra gyud na sa tawo kay naa may uban nga madala ra,” the superintendent shared.

Moreover, he said that if the salary and incentive would increase, the cops would give a better performance and can stand up to their ideals without compromising the needs of their families.
