KP-Cebu to hold rally to back Duterte
At least 15,000 members of Kilusang Pagbabago in Cebu are expected to gather on Saturday to reaffirm their support for President Rodrigo Duterte.
Doris Mongaya, KP-Visayas lead convenor, said the gathering dubbed as “Lihok Suporta 2” will be held at Plaza Independencia. Mongaya said KP-Cebu supporters want to express their continued support to the president amid the controversies hounding the chief executive and his family.
The gathering of Duterte's supporters will have a theme, "Iduso ang Kausaban. Wagtangon ang Kakabus."
Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco Jr. and some regional and local officials are also expected to grace the event. Evasco led the Lihok Suporta of KP last year and filled the Cebu Coliseum during Duterte's campaign rally.
"We decided to come out again to assure President Duterte that our support has not waned," Mongaya said.
Lawyer Ennoh Chentis Fernandez, president of KPCebu Province, said that people should participate and let their voices be heard.
According to Mongaya, genuine change cannot be realized without the people's active support.
"We organized as a response to the call for change through participatory governance," she said.
Those who want to join the rally are urged to prepare for their own provision.
