MSMEs and the role of tech in economics
Taiwanese technology brand Acer is reinforcing its stance to help small businesses in Cebu to exploit the benefits of technology to their respective businesses.
Acer gathered Micro Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs) yesterday at the Cebu City Marriott Hotel in an event dubbed Acer Techonomy Forum 2017, in an attempt to further educate the small and medium businesses on how technology can push growth and profitability in their businesses.
The event, which was in partnership with Microsoft Philippines, is the first forum of its kind in the country that tackles the role of technology in economics.
"We believe, the best way we can support the growth and expansion of this sector and other industries is to introduce to them the benefits of technology transformation," said Carren Garcia, Acer Philippines senior commercial sales manager.
Garcia said the TECHoconomy Forum aims to support Cebu's thriving economy by offering a valueadded thought leadership platform. The forum also served as venue for local businesses and stakeholders to exchange knowledge and ideas on the benefits of digital transformation.
"Cebu has sustained its economic growth nit just because of tourism, but also due to its immense capacity to incubate businesses driven by a creative and dynamic talent pool," added Garcia.
Acer Philippines underscored its commitment to help Cebu business decision makers and small entrepreneurs, through Techonomy in overcoming e challenged of innovation and technology adoption.
According to Gibson Lin, Acer's Global chief trainer for Cloud Technology, the best businesses are now the ones which actively utilize innovations like cloud and Internet of Things to gain customer insights and streamline operations, among others.
"Our thrust is to enable businesses to unlock new possibilities through the infusion of software and services. And through Techonomy Forum, we are expecting to usher the digital transformation of Cebu's local businesses," Lin added.
