“Malasakit Desk” to open in 6 hospitals
The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas and several government agencies headed by the Department of Health-7 have partnered in an initiative called “Malasakit Desk One-Stop Shop” in six hospitals in Cebu and Bohol.
Assistant Michael Lloyd Dino said this one-stop shop will help simplify the process of getting help from government agencies, especially financial, once poor constituents are confined in a hospital or those who needed immediate assistance without going each and every agency.
"Ang kani nga one-stop-shop dako ni og makatabang labi na gyud sa mga kabus kay dili na sila magbalhin-balhin asa sila mangayo og tabang," Dino said.
The six hospitals to pilot the “Malasakit Desk” are Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, St. Anthony Mother and Child Hospital, Talisay District Hospital and Eversley Hospital in Cebu, and Gallares Hospital and Del Valle Hospital in Bohol.
Dino is hopeful that the initiative will be realized by December this year.
This initiative aims to provide patients and their families and relatives with a one-stop desk where they can process documents/financial aids (e.g. SSS, GSIS, PhilHealth, DOH, DSWD, PCSO, Civil Service, etc.) needed for immediate admission, continuing care, or discharge.
This will ease the burden of the Visayan residents in hopping from one agency to another to process documents. Dino said he plans to expand the program depending on the results in the pilot hospitals.
Dino said some agencies have already started onestop-shop but not as comprehensive as his initiative.
