City Mayor Eduardo Gullas is planning to implement a task force that will solve traffic problems in Talisay.

He said that the City of Talisay Traffic Operations Development Authority can't solve the traffic in the city alone.

"We have to solve the traffic gyud. I am lambasted daily on the radio because of the traffic. Dili mada sa isa ka individual. It has to be a team. Kanang ang head kay antigo gyud mo-assert," he said.

He observed that there are several sidewalk vendors plying along the city roads particularly in Barangay Tabunok.

Gullas said he needs to form another team as soon as possible that will specifically clear the city's sidewalk which they considered the number one cause of traffic congestion in the city.

“It's quite drastic kay daghan nanginabuhi dinha. But that's one of the reasons nga dunay traffic sa dalan, gigamitan sa tawo laktan ug sa vehicles,” he stressed.

With the formation of the task force, Gullas is hoping that they would solve traffic congestion in the city by implementing strict policy and apprehending erring motorists.

Meanwhile, Talisay City Police Chief Jason Villamater eyed two possible main problems in celebrating the upcoming annual fiesta celebration of St. Teresa de Avila today – traffic and drunken constituents.

He said there are reports from previous years that vehicle owners complained that their cars were vandalized while they were stuck in traffic.

Villamater urged residents to let visitors utilize their backyards to minimize vehicles from parking along the sidewalks.

He also said the city's police force is ready for today's festivity.

A team from the Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) has arrived in the station last Thursday to augment their police force.

Aside from the PPSC team which consists of eight personnel, there are also six policemen from Minglanilla, San Fernando and Carcar that were deployed for the fiesta.

Villamater explained it was his first time to man a city during a fiesta celebration and he is hoping that the barangay officials and the constituents to cooperate to achieve peaceful celebration with zero crime.
