Grow Cebu Music School Tour ends with DemoCrazy Live
Local record label 22 Tango Records, in partnership with Create Cebu, has had a successful run of the Grow Cebu Music School Tour throughout September and October.
The schools they’ve visited are Southwestern University– PHINMA, Cebu Institute of Technology-University, Maria Montessori International School, University of Cebu-Banilad, University of San Jose-Recoletos, and St. Theresa’s College on October 20.
There were talks by music influencers Bomba Press founder Dexter Sy, 22 Tango Records CEO Cattski Espina, and Kadasig founder Jude Gitamondoc; testimonials by music advocates like Honey-drop and Hey, It’s Your Birthday manager Trena Guerrero and 22 Tango Records label manager Micah Almazan; and performances by Vincent Eco, Lourdes Maglinte, Mary Anchit with Clarence Mongado, Wonggoys, Jerika Teodorico, Honeydrop, David Wilde, Luis Quibranza III of Bethany, and Mandaue Nights who also shared their experiences being musicians and artists in Cebu.
The Grow Cebu Music School Tour will culminate with DemoCrazy Live this October 21, Saturday at A Space in Crossroads, Banilad at 8 p.m.
DemoCrazy Live is a spin-off of 22 Tango Records’ demo-of-the-week online campaign, DemoCrazy. It’s open mic night with a twist that will feature performances of all-original material from up-and-coming singer-songwriters from Cebu.
As part of the Grow Cebu Music campaign, the music school tour is one more way of moving forward the record label’s advocacy of building a strong music community in Cebu. It fosters and encourages the culture of loving, appreciating and creating homegrown music.
The performances during DemoCrazy Live will be recorded live and one or two songs from each artist will be chosen to be featured for the next installment of DemoCrazy. Songs like Vincent Eco’s “Make You Stay” and Lourdes Maglinte’s debut single “Empty Sheets” were first heard through the online DemoCrazy campaign. These songs will also be in the running for volume two of the Folk City compilation album featuring various artists.
DemoCrazy Live will be held at A Space in Crossroads, Banilad this October 21, Saturday. Music starts at 8 p.m.
