Siquijor prov'l PNP welcomes new director

- Mae Clydyl L. Avila, Staff Member

Senior Superintendent Clarito Baja was installed as the new director of the Siquijor Provincial Police Office (SPPO). replacing Sr. Supt. Erson Digal, after the official turnover of command ceremony last October 31.

Baja was formerly the chief of the Police Regional Office7's Personnel and Human Resources Development Division, while Digal will be assuming the post of division chief of the PNP Human Resource and Doctrine Development in Camp Crame, the police national headquarters.

PRO-7 Director Chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino said, "He (Digal) has fulfilled his tenure as provincial director, for two years and three months. It's time for him to be promoted for a higher position. It was effective October 31."

Espino directed Baja to maintain the peace and order situation in Siquijor, like "how it has been for two years" under the leadership of Digal.

"He (Baja) has a large shoe to fill in for two years, as I have witnessed the transformation ng SPPO. All the police stations are newly-constructed kaya high-morale," the PRO-7 commander said.

Espino reminded police forces in Siquijor and other regional offices to actively support the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, as the lead agency against illegal drugs through intelligence gathering.

"He has to concentrate on our strategy and enhanced managing police operation since wala na tayo sa campaign against illegal drugs. Ang isa pa rin doon is to help PDEA in intel-gathering para hindi na bumalik ang illegal pushers and users sa Siquijor," Espino added. —
