CTU tops nationwide engineering contests
Graduating students of the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineer (BSME) from Cebu Technological University (CTU) Main Campus in Cebu City emerged as champions in two prestigious engineering competitions held in Metro Manila recently.
Engr. Jonathan A. Meraballes of the CTU Main Engineering Department identified the five CTU students as Rodel M. Resit, Mark Vincent E. Mamigo, Jun Aro A. Estrella, Edilbert Libre, and Joshua A.Gonzales.
They composed the CTU team who participated in the 65th Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) National Students Quiz held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on October 18, and the Brainmesh Inter-University Quiz Competition (BIQC) held at the University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman, Quezon City on September 22.
Meraballes said he was so proud of the performance displayed by the students, while Dr. Ronald Galindo, Associate Dean of the CTU Engineering Department who served as coach of the team, was in awe of the students’ sharpness and determination.
The CTU bested other contestants from 55 private and government-run schools and universities nationwide.
This achievement has made the CTU administration so happy and proud. CTU President Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta Jr. and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Linkages, Dr. Victor D. Villaganas expressed their gratefulness and appreciation to the students and their engineering professors.
Dr. Villaganas said this is the first time the CTU engineering students have topped the two national engineering contests in the same year, a sign of great improvement on both teaching and learning abilities of the CTU professors and students.
