CTU tops nationwide engineerin­g contests

Graduating students of the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineer (BSME) from Cebu Technologi­cal University (CTU) Main Campus in Cebu City emerged as champions in two prestigiou­s engineerin­g competitio­ns held in Metro Manila recently.

Engr. Jonathan A. Meraballes of the CTU Main Engineerin­g Department identified the five CTU students as Rodel M. Resit, Mark Vincent E. Mamigo, Jun Aro A. Estrella, Edilbert Libre, and Joshua A.Gonzales.

They composed the CTU team who participat­ed in the 65th Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) National Students Quiz held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on October 18, and the Brainmesh Inter-University Quiz Competitio­n (BIQC) held at the University of the Philippine­s (UP) in Diliman, Quezon City on September 22.

Meraballes said he was so proud of the performanc­e displayed by the students, while Dr. Ronald Galindo, Associate Dean of the CTU Engineerin­g Department who served as coach of the team, was in awe of the students’ sharpness and determinat­ion.

The CTU bested other contestant­s from 55 private and government-run schools and universiti­es nationwide.

This achievemen­t has made the CTU administra­tion so happy and proud. CTU President Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta Jr. and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Linkages, Dr. Victor D. Villaganas expressed their gratefulne­ss and appreciati­on to the students and their engineerin­g professors.

Dr. Villaganas said this is the first time the CTU engineerin­g students have topped the two national engineerin­g contests in the same year, a sign of great improvemen­t on both teaching and learning abilities of the CTU professors and students.
