Ravena says Fajardo is PBA's LeBron James

-

Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is arguably the greatest basketball player in the world today. Many young kids look up to him because he can do almost everything on the court and has accomplished so much in the NBA.

In his 14-year career, James has gone to the finals eight times, including seven straight from 2011 to 2017. He is one of two players in NBA history to win four Most Valuable Player trophies in a span of five years and is also the youngest player, at the age of 28, to win four MVP awards.

When you look at the PBA, who can take over the league the way LBJ does?

That was the question posed to incoming rookie Kiefer Ravena. The Gilas standout believes San Miguel Beermen star June Mar Fajardo is the PBA’s LeBron James as far as winning individual accolades and dominating the game are concerned.

“We haven’t seen a local guy dominate with such force in the league in the past decade or so. With June Mar around, it’s going to be hard for the other teams to fight for the championship,” Ravena told Sports5.ph.

Fajardo, who just turned 28 on Friday, November 17, has been the epitome of Philippine basketball. Similar to LBJ, Fajardo already has four MVP plums in his trophy case. The only difference is he did it in four straight seasons — a feat that his fellow four-time MVPs Ramon Fernandez and Alvin Patrimonio were unable to achieve.

“In the end it’s about trying to beat Goliath, as they say. It’s a tough task,” Ravena added. “June Mar is by far one of the most dominating players I’ve ever seen in the PBA.”—
