Politics without principles, politicians without scruples
Why is it very easy for members of the LP, the NP and One Cebu and Alayon to abandon their parties and join the exodus of trapos who are all rushing to jump into the bandwagon of PDP? Why is the PDP desperately accepting new members without any process of background investigations and some screening of sorts? Why is it very fast, flawless, and too expedient to jump ship and abandon a sinking vessel that is the Liberal Party? And why is the PDP accepting jointly political rivals in the same turfdom, the same districts and the same towns? Why is the Senate President, who is a son of a very principled man, collaborating with the House Speaker in swearing in droves of new opportunists into the party in power?
The answer is very plain, simple, and expected. Politics in our country are not based on the solid anchor of principles. Political parties are based on personalities, and our rotten political system makes it very easy to establish a political party even without a clear vision for the country. Thus our politicians are not driven by high moral values, not guided by ethics or values. They are all for their own political, financial, and selfish ambitions for power, greed for money and thirst for glory and prestige.
No political party today can effectively demonstrate that their decisions and actions are based on solid principles and clearly defined ideology. No one. I challenge anyone who wishes to engage in a public debate on this proposition, anytime and anywhere.
Politics in this country is based on money. That is why they are all jumping into PDP because that is where the money is. Politics here is based on personalities. That is why they swallow PDP because the top personalities who shall dictate political decisions are President Duterte, Senate President Pimentel, and Speaker Alvarez. These triumvirate of the new Athos, Portos and Aramis are the three musketeers who shall dictate who shall run in all districts, who shall get the billions of funding. They also dictate who shall be appointed into office, who shall control customs and BIR, who shall become Commissioners of this and that. They also are the ones who shall decide whether to field such characters as Mocha Uson and Harry Roque to join Manny Pacquiao in the Senate. In other words, PDP is where money and power are.
These local politicians in Cebu are now positioning to be anointed by PDP in 2019. They are coveting the funds, the machinery, and the magic of being endorsed by the triumvirate. No mention of any principle whatsoever. This is neither about ideology nor value. Principles cannot buy votes and ideology cannot win polls. They cannot run their organization with values. And so, these trapos, these political butterflies can easily descend into the waiting embrace of a party, that is becoming the resurrection of the KBL. This is not about the welfare of their constituents. This is not about the good of their towns or districts. This is just about political survival in 2019. Principles have nothing to do with this. It is just about money, power and selfish ambitions. I feel very bad for the Cebuanos. I am outraged at the spineless breed of trapos.
Sad, very sad indeed.
